About us

 

Archery Club Sagittarius Malacky is a civic association that was established in May 2013. Its mission is to create conditions for sports activities not only for its members, but also for others interested in archery, to provide training mainly for children, youth and adolescents, and, if possible, to provide adequate material and training equipment for archery.

Sagittarius is the Latin name for the constellation Sagittarius. According to Greek myths, Sagittarius represents Krotos, a mythical centaur who excelled not only in strength but also in intelligence. He was the protégé of the Muses and, according to ancient myth, invented archery. For this act, he was included among the constellations as Sagittarius.

We connect people who enjoy archery and feel the need to expand and improve archery training opportunities.

 

The club is not only focused on classic target shooting, but we also train in field and 3D shooting. At our trainings you can learn to use bows with a sight, as well as simple primitive bows. Under the supervision of a trainer you will master not only Olympic shooting techniques, but also instinctive shooting techniques.

Our club actively participates in raising awareness about archery, both by successfully organizing and co-organizing archery competitions and events, and by the fact that a significant number of our archers represent our club, our city, and Slovakia, not only in domestic but also in international competitions.

​

Our club also includes a historical fencing group called Sagiitarius, which is dedicated to historical reconstructions from the territory of Kievan Rus' from the mid-tenth to the eleventh century. We participate in historical events, festivals and various lectures. We develop contact fencing with historical weapons.
